2019 Swan Valley Chenin Blanc, Corymbia

From one of WA's great emergine winemakers, this wine shows distinctive characters of lemon pith, blackcurrant leaf and Packham pear with a textural, vibrant and typically saline finish. Corymbia calophylla is the botanical name for the West Australian marri tree, which grows tall and strong on the states best vineyard sites. The label image is a graphical expression of the 12-month climatic data for the vintage year, whose form represents the marri blossom in full bloom. The stamens represent the daily minimum and maximum temperatures against the monthly average. The colored blocks represent the monthly rainfall against the average. January is at 12 o'clock and the red stamen was the harvest date. The marri blossom mimics our natural environment as its form changes subtly each year. The infographic is the purest expression of the vintage conditions in which our fruit was grown

  • Food Matching: A great glass with fresh seafood inlcuding oysters, prawns, white fleshed fish. Poultry and Asian inspired dishes with a touch of spice are also a wonderful accompaniment.
  • Vineyard: The fruit is dry grown and farmed under organic principles by former Australian Test Cricketer Tony “Rocket” Mann, Robert and Genevieve Mann. Tony Mann and his son Rob planted the vineyard together on their family property in the Swan Valley more than 35 years ago
  • Vinification: The grapes were harvested by hand and whole bunch pressed prior to natural fermentation. A portion was matured in seasoned French oak barriques for 7 months prior to blending and bottling.
