From one of the Beaujolais region's loveliest villages, Fleurie, this is a gloriously ripe and perfumed wine that oozes cherry, chocolate and raspberry and finishes with a spicy flourish.
Food Matching: Pork chops within curried apple-onion sauce; blackened fish fillets steaks with tomatoes and green sauce or rack of lamb with redcurrant wine sauce.
Vineyard: Fleurie is produced on the 800 hectares which surround the area of the same name. The Fleurie vintage occupies the third rung on the ladder of local ‘appellations’, after Brouilly and Morgon, with an annual production of approximately 45000 hectolitres. The soil of Fleurie is geologically composed of granite containing large crystals. In the high sloping sections of the main rock, washed, there is a tiny amount of soil, the granite sand onto which the vine clings, spreading its roots into the tiniest rock fault in order to draw substance and to draw out the perfumes of this delicate cru.
Vinification: Our cuvée always played a high quality selection of harvesting, strict monitoring of maturation and the modernization of the winemaking facilities which provide a traditional fermentation. Ageing in tank and bottled during the month of March.
