Rounded, full Malbec, velvety yet structured, heavily perfumed with baked plums, raisins, berries and hints of cacao and vanilla.
Food Matching: Try it with braised lamb shanks accompanied by spicy beans and chorizo stew.
Vineyard: There are few places on earth where magic really happens. The Calchaqui Valley, home of El Esteco winery, is certainly one of them. This Valley, located over 1800 metres hidden in the North of Argentina, displays some unique characteristics. Poor alluvial soils; high sun exposure; low humidity; and broad thermal amplitude make the Calchaqui Valley an exceptional wine region.
Vinification: Concentrated bunches of small grapes are harvested by hand early in the morning. Pre- fermentation maceration occurs at 5°C in stainless steel tanks. Both native and selected yeasts are used in the fermentation process for additional complexity. Natural malolactic fermentation takes place in both American and French barrels of first, second and third use followed by aging in the same lightly toasted oak barrels for 12 months. The wine is bottled unfiltered, and aged at the winery for a further 6 months before release.
